'Silent Hill f' Trailer Debuts Next Mainline Game, Capturing the Bone-Chilling Horror of the Franchise

Almost three years after Konami first talked about the next mainline game in the "Silent Hill" franchise, the company has finally shared the first trailer for "Silent Hill f." The game serves as the first mainline entry to the series in over two decades.

"Silent Hill f" is one of the most anticipated horror games at present, and the game will be set in the 1960s in rural Japan. This is in contrast to previous games, which have been set in the fictional town of Silent Hill.

'Silent Hill f' Trailer Debuts From Konami

The latest 'Silent Hill' Transmission event from Konami did not disappoint fans, particularly as it delivered more details about the next mainline franchise game. Konami's Motoi Okamoto hosted the event alongside other executives to celebrate a new entry into the series, with this being one of its most ambitious releases as it dives into a different setting for the franchise.

"Silent Hill f's" first reveal trailer gave fans a glimpse of the future of the franchise, showcasing a new setting for the game as it focuses on a rural town in 1960s Japan. Previous "Silent Hill" games focused on the modern setting and typically take place in the town of Silent Hill, as well as the alternate dimension-like parallel known as the Otherworld.

According to Okamoto, the theme of "Silent Hill f" is "beauty in terror," and it centers on a running theme of the franchise where something too beautiful or perfect is not what it always seems to be. In this new psychological horror story, the game will explore how both opposing ideologies co-exist in a plot, taking players on a different experience in the franchise.

The fictional town of Ebisugaoka in "Silent Hill f" is also based on a real-life town in the Gifu prefecture that is surrounded by lush forestry and mountains. Players will play as a high school student named Shimizu Hinako, who is destined to save her town after it was consumed by a fog and is now overrun by terrifying creatures and monsters.

The Bone-Chilling Horror of 'Silent Hill' Returns

"Silent Hill f," if all goes well, is poised to be another masterpiece in the genre of psychological horror. While it will not be set in the town of Silent Hill, it presents the same thrills and horror as the previous games.

Konami has focused on several game remakes over the past years, successfully finding its footing and earning critical acclaim with the release of the original "Silent Hill" and "Silent Hill 2" remakes. Now, the developers are ready to take on another story in the world of "Silent Hill."
