
Gangtok: Eight people including four minors have been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl for several months in Gyalshing district of Sikkim. Police has exposed the incident of rape and took action on the basis of a complaint lodged by the Child Welfare Committee on Friday.
The girl's school had informed the Child Welfare Committee about her condition. Police said that the student always looked sick and weak in the class. She told the name of a woman from her area in the counseling session who used to call her regularly to help in household chores.

According to the statement of the girl, the woman allegedly forced her into sexual acts, in which her husband was also involved, police said.
Police also said, interrogation also revealed that two other men were also brought in and the girl was allegedly forced to have sex with them in exchange for money. The victim also named four minors who had allegedly been sexually assaulting her for the past one year. Based on the victim's statement, the police arrested the woman, her husband and two men, and detained four teenagers.
The girl is currently under the protection of the Child Welfare Committee and is being treated.

Police said a case has been registered under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The case is under investigation.
