Former Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan recently announced his shingles diagnosis at the age of 43.
The professional dancer discovered he was suffering from shingles after a follower spotted a rash. James fell ill while on holiday with his wife Ola and two-month-old daughter Ella in Abu Dhabi.
On his return home, James visited the doctors, he said: "Home from an amazing family holiday - straight to docs and it’s been confirmed I do actually have shingles like most of you suggested. It’s pretty uncomfortable not going to lie but hopefully will start to get better soon…. Many of you been asking how it is. Thanks guys."
He told OK! magazine : "Hopefully, Ella doesn't catch chickenpox from me now. I didn't realise you can have a vaccine for chickenpox now. The doctor said lots of people have it. Ella hasn't had it though.
"I've got it down my right side and back. It came on about five days ago. Every now and then I'd tell Ola, 'It's quite painful you know' and she'd go, 'Oh here we go, it's all about James again! All about his pain…"
Symptoms and first signs of shingles
According to the NHS, the first signs of shingles can be a tingling or painful feeling in an area of skin, a headache or feeling generally unwell. A rash will appear a few days later. Usually, you get the shingles rash on your chest and tummy, but it can appear anywhere on your body including on your face, eyes and genitals.
The rash appears as blotches on your skin, on one side of your body only. A rash on both the left and right of your body is unlikely to be shingles.
It can take up to four weeks for the rash to heal. Your skin can be painful for weeks after the rash has gone, but it usually gets better over time.
