Leeds United turned in an encouraging performance but were ultimately held to a 0-0 draw by Brentford at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.
Here's the winners and losers from the contest.
Winners
Robin Koch
Amongst Leeds’ best on the day. Koch was excellent for the Whites after missing the midweek FA Cup clash with a slight knock. He combined well with Max Wober, looked comfortable with the ball at his feet and held his own against Ivan Toney, pressing him tightly and refusing to allow the England international any time on the ball.

In truth, the whole defensive line deserves credit for their performance at Elland Road, showing resilience, control and level heads to keep the west Londoners at bay. A nod to Tyler Adams, too.
The American turned in another dogged performance in the middle, putting his body on the line and ensuring attacking opportunities for Brentford were few and far between.
Jesse Marsch
It was only a point but it’s a point that shows Leeds seem to be going in the right direction with their performances. Despite the ‘Marsch out’ chants at Villa, Leeds performed relatively well there and they followed that up with the confidence-boosting win over the Bluebirds.
However, to keep Brentford at bay with a strong defensive performance, while causing issues up front, demonstrates progress. Brentford had chances but the Whites never looked vulnerable at the back, which hasn’t always been the case this season.
The head coach seemed to be pleased with the point at the end of the game and after seeing improvements across the field, he probably has a right to be.
Losers
Liam Cooper
Cooper missed Wednesday night’s Cup win over Cardiff with a knock and he wasn’t deemed fit enough to play against the Bees, either. Max Wober stepped in for a full league debut as a left-sided centre-back and his performance was enough to give Jesse Marsch some serious food for thought.
The club captain certainly offers plenty, particularly when it comes to leadership and guidance, but he might have his work cut out if he is to regain his spot in the side. Wober was excellent, alongside Koch, producing a dominant performance and keeping Brentford’s attack quiet.
It’ll be a tough call and Marsch has a fortnight to mull it over before the next Premier League game.
