Sienna Miller has joined the upcoming short film 'Marion' as an executive producer alongside Joe Weiland and Finn Constantine. This captivating film tells the inspiring story of Marion, who happens to be the only female bull-jumper in France. The logline reads, 'The short tracks the tense fifteen minutes before her first performance in a packed French arena.' It explores Marion's battle against misogyny and prejudiced attitudes as she prepares to showcase her talent amidst an all-male world.
Caroline Larbère, an actual French bull-jumper, takes on the role of Marion, a woman torn between her love for the sport and her femininity. Weiland and Constantine were deeply moved by Larbère's story, which served as the inspiration for this short film. Filmed last December in Bayonne, France, 'Marion' sheds light on La Course Landaise, an ancient form of bullfighting without bloodshed.
Joining Larbère in the cast are Radouan Leflahi, Manuel Severi, and Laurent Fernandez. For Joe Weiland, 'Marion' marks his second directorial effort after his debut film, 'Gorka,' which has been nominated in the short film category at the upcoming BAFTA awards. 'Gorka,' a touching story about a French exchange student's first visit to England, has also been selected for the prestigious BFI London Film Festival.
Finn Constantine, known for his work in fashion, art, and music, including collaborations with renowned brands like Gucci and Adidas, brings his unique perspective to the project. Sienna Miller expressed her excitement about joining the production, stating, 'I couldn't be more excited to be executive producing Joe's next film 'Marion.' It's the beautiful story of Caroline, and I feel fortunate to be a part of Joe Weiland's journey.'
Weiland and Constantine shared their enthusiasm for the project, emphasizing the film's heartfelt nature and the courage it portrays. 'Marion' depicts the resilience of its titular character as she navigates a male-dominated world in France. However, instead of creating a documentary, the filmmakers aimed to bring Marion's world to life through fiction, with Caroline playing herself on screen.
Co-produced by OB42 in the UK and Solab Pictures in France, 'Marion' is brought to life under the guidance of producer Marija Djikic and Director of Photography Harry Wheeler.
Sienna Miller's involvement adds another layer of excitement to this already captivating project. With 'Marion,' audiences can anticipate a thought-provoking and emotionally charged short film that explores themes of gender, passion, and the pursuit of dreams. As the film nears its release, it promises to leave a lasting impression and further establish Joe Weiland's presence as a talented director in the industry.
