Judy Murray has led calls for action after a "horrific" video emerged of a young girl reportedly being beaten on a tennis court by her father and coach.
Footage of the sickening incident was shared by Croatian actor Igor Juric, showing a man repeatedly slap the young girl across the head before kicking her in the stomach. Serbian media reports that the man in question is the 14-year-old girl's father and the incident took place in Belgrade.
As she attempts to sit down next to the court, the man is seen dragging her up and throwing her to the ground, before landing a series of kicks on her as onlookers shout over.
A host of tennis stars including Stan Wawrinka and Victoria Azarenka commented on the horrifying incident with Murray, mother of Andy, calling for action.
"Horrific example of parental physical abuse in junior tennis," she wrote on social media. Murray then called out the International Tennis Federation, adding: "Over to you to deal with this through whichever governing body he falls under."
The Ministry of Internal Affairs in Belgrade confirmed a Chinese national had been arrested, believed to be the man in the video, reports the Mail.
It is claimed he has been called to the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade to face charges of domestic violence.
Former world doubles No.1 Pam Shriver called for Serbian star and national icon Novak Djokovic to step up, posting: "We all need to work together to stop abuse."
Azarenka meanwhile questioned the individual who had filmed the shocking scenes and not intervened while the young girl was beaten.
"I don't know who this person is, but wtf is this?!? People filming for this long without intervening, absolute disgrace. And it happens so much, there has to be accountability. Please report who this person is if somebody knows,'" she tweeted.
The Tennis Association of Belgrade responded: "We condemn in the strongest terms the brutal violence that happened on the tennis court during a training session. We found out that this was a case of domestic violence, considering that the attacker is the father of a young tennis player."
Mirror Sport has contacted the International Tennis Federation for comment.
