SI predicts Titans post winning record, Will Levis plays 3 games

The Tennessee Titans invested an early second-round pick on quarterback Will Levis during the 2023 NFL draft, and naturally fans and media are wondering when the rookie will actually see the field.

With Ryan Tannehill still on the roster and set to start in 2023, Levis is unlikely to see any action barring injury or the Titans falling out of contention.

In a recent article listing 100 bold predictions for the 2023 NFL campaign, Sports Illustrated’s Conor Orr says that not only will the Titans finish with a winning record and miss the playoffs, we’ll also see Levis for three games in his first season.

Here’s what he had to say:

65. Titans finish with winning record, Will Levis plays 3 games

Do I think the Titans will win the AFC South? No. Do I think Ryan Tannehill is completely and totally washed? Not necessarily. Do I think Will Levis will eventually be the answer? Yes. I think Levis will get eased into action, though the Titans don’t need him to take live bullets right away.

I’m on board with a prediction stating Levis will see the field, but I wouldn’t exactly call that bold. I wouldn’t use that label for a prediction of Tennessee finishing with a winning record, either.

The Titans are clearly in a transition year, especially when it comes to quarterback, where the team has a veteran and potential trade candidate playing out the final year of his contract.

Adding to that, the roster has plenty of question marks, leaving the Titans as a team on the fringe of the playoff discussion. It wouldn’t be at all shocking to see Tennessee finish on either side of the .500 mark.

We can also talk about the injury angle as another path that could get Levis on the field after the walking infirmary this team’s locker room has been the past few years, something Tannehill was part of in 2022.

At this point, it would be surprising if Levis doesn’t play in 2023.
