Si Ferry roasted by Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou over Broomhill gig as he offers stark word of caution

Ange Postecoglou offered Open Goal host Si Ferry some words of wisdom as he embarks on his managerial career.

But the Celtic boss couldn't resist rinsing him after Ferry landed the Broomhill FC role as part of a partnership with the media company and the Lowland League side.

Ferry was announced as their new boss with the club even rebranding to Open Goal Broomhill in a controversial stunt.

The pair have been frequently acquainted when Postecoglou has scooped the Premiership Manager of the Month award and after taking the gong for April, he had some words of warning.

He said: "I could be wrong but I read a statistic where guys who - and I don't want to scare you - but guys who fail in their first job, 50 percent of them never get another opportunity. That first job is critical.

"And the reason I think that is is because most of them go into it and are like 'I've got this job, and now I'm just going to win and that's all that matters' and eventually that just wears out mate.

"You've got to start with a belief about something, it evolves as you go along, and try to stick to it as close as possible. Be the person you wanna be."

Postecoglou couldn't resist a dig at the unorthodox nature of Ferry's new gig, though.

"I keep saying it's not about getting a job - you've just bought a club to get yourself a job!"

Ferry answered: "I knew he would say that!

"I've got a job, I'm leaving that to do this."

And the Hoops boss replied: "It's okay, it's fine.

"But what you should be thinking about is that you want to be doing it in 20 years so that when you're my age, you're still doing the same thing.

"That's only going to happen if you have success along the way but also if you believe in something."
