Shraddha Arya, who is known for playing Preeta in Kundali Bhagya, slammed Dalai Lama after his video asking a little boy to 'suck his tongue' became viral. Little did she know that it would make her receive hate messages.
The actress took to her Instagram stories and clarified that she has nothing against any religious practice or community. It was the video that made her upset and angry. However, she apologised for her 'choice of words' that could have come across 'harsh'.
Shraddha wrote, "A lot of people have been writing hateful stuff on my page. I don't know you guys and have absolutely nothing against you or your religion or your practices. An "act has been condemned". Not any community, religion or place."
She added, "Apologies if my choice of words used to criticise the incident were too harsh. Sadly, India is infested with child abuse and it's already very heartbreaking. Hence, any act or word that suggests of child mistreatment are extremely enraging and unappreciated #LoveOverHate."
There were many including celebs like Sana Khan who were outraged to see the video of the Dalai Lama asking a boy to suck his tongue. It made the spiritual leader issue an apology.
His statement read, "A video clip has been circulating that shows a recent meeting when a young boy asked His Holiness the Dalai Lama if he could give him a hug. His Holiness wishes to apologise to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused. His Holiness often teases people he meets in an innocent and playful way, even in public and before cameras. He regrets the incident."
