A man who caused a passenger in his car serious injuries after crashing into a wall when speeding has failed in a bid to get his licence back early.
Ben McPartland, then 23, was spared jail two years ago after speeding his car through Everton while carrying two women as passengers before crashing the car, causing one of them to suffer a fractured skull.
Liverpool Crown Court heard in September 2020 that he invited two women to have a spin in his Volkswagen Golf R-Type along with two of his mates.

Prosecutors told the court at the time that McPartland had seemed "very pleased with himself" and bragged about how fast the car could go after meeting the two women in Everton Park.
He then allowed one of them to drive the car a short distance before telling her: "I'll show you how it's done". However, he then sped between 75mph and 90mph on Heyworth Street on October 10 in 2018, clipping the kerb, crashing into a bollard and rolling the car into a garden wall.
The court heard McPartland had "floored the throttle" so quickly the women struggled to get their seatbelts on and one hadn't fastened hers before he lost control of the car and crashed. One victim fractured the base of her skull, suffered a separation between the base of her skull and her spine, suffered multiple broken ribs and bruising to her body.
McPartland's friend also had to wear a neck brace because of his injuries.
The accident happened in 2018 and delays meant it did not come to court for two years, something the judge in the case, Judge Gary Woodhall, said was one of the key reasons McPartland was not jailed despite admitting causing injury by dangerous driving.
However, he faced a mandatory disqualification and was banned for two years as well as being handed 14 months in jail, suspended for 20 months. The disqualification would have been set to end next year as long as he passed an extended retest - but records indicate McPartland, now 25, applied to have his licence reinstated early.
McPartland's application, which also went before Judge Woodhall, failed at Liverpool Crown Court today, meaning he will either have to apply again to try to get his licence reinstated or wait until the disqualification ends.
