Should the NFL suspend Kareem Jackson for hit on Commanders TE Logan Thomas?

For the second consecutive week, a Washington player suffered a nasty and completely unnecessary hit in a win. Last week, it was Commanders quarterback Sam Howell. Arizona linebacker Kyzir White took a shot at Howell when it was clear he was out of bounds.

White received a fine of $18,000 from the NFL.

In Sunday’s win over the Denver Broncos, tight end Logan Thomas caught a Howell pass in the end zone for Washington’s first touchdown of the day. As Thomas caught the ball, Denver defensive back Kareem Jackson leveled Thomas. Amazingly, Thomas held onto the football.

Unfortunately, the hit would knock Thomas out of the game with a concussion. Officials immediately flagged Jackson and, shortly afterward, removed him from the game.

Here’s the hit:

Here’s the problem with Jackson. Last week, he took a shot at Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Jackson was fined for the hit, and Meyers missed Week 2 with a concussion.

Now, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Jackson could be facing discipline from the NFL.

If the NFL doesn’t suspend Jackson, it sends a bad message, considering how the league talks about player safety. Thomas is now in the NFL’s concussion protocol, much like Meyers was last week. Concussions are tricky because there is no firm timeline for a return.

Jackson was fined last week, but it was clearly not enough to deter him from head-hunting in Week 2.
