Should the Jets trade Haason Reddick for Davante Adams? WFAN’s Boomer Esiason muses on the possibility

Could the New York Jets headache holdout of Haason Reddick be solved with a trade? Former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason, now a personality on WFAN, believes that a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders for Davante Adams could solve not just one but two major issues for the Jets.

Esiason on WFAN on Tuesday offered a possible solution when he speculated on the Jets trading Reddick for Adams. Reddick, who has been engaged in a contract holdout for the entirety of training camp, requested a trade on Monday.

Esiason said he thinks the solution could be the Jets making a move to jettison Reddick and bring in the All-Pro Adams to bolster the offense.

Now, Esiason never said that he’s heard it is a possibility. It is just something that the WFAN personality believes could make sense for the Jets:

“This is one of the reasons Haason Reddick is holding out: He basically says my numbers are either as good or better than some of these guys getting paid a lot  more than me – and that’s why I want the money,” Esiason said on WFAN.

“Again, I go back to Davante Adams… He’ll never say it publicly, but are you gonna sit here and tell me that he’s happy playing in Vegas right now after what he was promised originally?”

Esiason cautioned that Adams, a “Hall of Fame wide receiver” may want to stay with the Raiders.

“Do you think he wants to play in Vegas under those circumstances, where he knows – he knows in his heart – that they don’t have a chance in hell to get to the Super Bowl?” Esiason said.

Last year with the Raiders, Adams had 103 catches for 1,144 yards and eight touchdowns.

He spent the first eight years of his NFL career playing with the Green Packers. With the Packers, he played alongside Aaron Rodgers, who is now the quarterback of the Jets.
