Should the Eagles have an interest in DeAndre Hopkins after he’s released by the Cardinals?

DeAndre Hopkins listed Jalen Hurts as a quarterback he’d like to catch passes from, and now he’s an available free agent after being released by the Arizona Cardinals.

The five-time Pro Bowl wideout skipped the first week of OTAs and has reportedly looked to be traded after Arizona shopped him to other teams during the NFL draft.

Hopkins’ $29.9 million salary-cap hit was the largest on the team, and he seems to not mesh well with new head coach Jonathan Gannon and injured quarterback Kyler Murray.

According to Over The Cap, Hopkins was set to make $19.45 million in 2023 and $15.915 million in 2024.  Of the teams he listed as potential suitors, only the Eagles have the financial flexibility to take on a massive contract.

Kansas City and Buffalo have over $1 million in cap space. Philadelphia, Baltimore, and the Chargers have roughly $12 million in cap space.

The Ravens have already committed $15 million to Odell Beckham Jr., likely eliminating that option.
