The Aaron Rodgers saga with the New York Jets helped turn the Jets from a laughing stock to an even greater embarrassment. In turn, it may have spoiled the relationship between Rodgers and rising star wide receiver Garrett Wilson.
Wilson’s relationship with Rodgers being in limbo may also raise cause for concern with Wilson’s future. With that said, could the Denver Broncos make a play for Wilson in 2025 via trade? If he declines his eligible contract extension, the Broncos shouldn’t be afraid to pick up the phone.
Wilson commented not too long ago after a loss against the Los Angeles Rams that raised eyebrows about his future.
Wilson’s recent comments suggested that he is disgruntled.
“I’d like to be involved, love to make an impact on the game, but people see it differently,” Wilson said in December, via NFL.com. “That’s out of my control.”
Surrounding Bo Nix — who has already overachieved and has the Broncos in the NFL playoffs — with Wilson, who has accumulated 268 catches, 3,132 yards and 13 TDs in his career, would only make Nix better. It would also give head coach and offensive designer Sean Payton more options to choose from when designing the offense for 2025 and beyond.
Wilson will be a name worth monitoring this offseason.
