Jaylen Brown has long been one of the Boston Celtics‘ core pieces since he was drafted third overall in the 2016 NBA draft, but this season he has possibly taken his game to a level no one expected (outside of himself).
A season after the team finally had their breakthrough and reached the NBA Finals, Brown entered the season on a mission. He proved that by achieving career highs in points per game (26.6), rebounds per game (6.9), field goal percentage (49.1%), free throw percentage (76.5%). He also tied a career high in assists per game (3.5). Celtics President Brad Stevens believes he should be in line for an All-NBA selection, via Souichi Terada at MassLive:
Buy Celtics Tickets“He’s really played his best basketball, I think, in the last couple of months, and he was an obvious All-Star right out of the gate,” Stevens said. “So it tells you where he’s been. I think he’s doing a great job of obviously scoring the ball, scoring when we need it. But we asked him to do a lot defensively.”
Brown has absolutely performed as one of the 15 best players in the league, given the Celtics success this season. But his potential placement on an All-NBA team is likely going to depend on whether he’s viewed as a guard or forward.
