Shots fired through window of house while people inside

Shots were fired through the window of a house in Aintree this weekend.

Police were called to reports that a gun was fired at a home on Wyresdale Road, at around 12.15am on Saturday, April 22. Two shots were fired through the front window with what is believed to have been a shotgun.

People were inside the house at the time of the shooting but no injuries were reported. It has been reported that a group of men on electric bikes were in the area at the time and could be involved in the incident.

Detective inspector Peter McCullough said: "The investigation is still in the early stages and we are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. While no injuries have been reported, discharging a firearm is extremely reckless and dangerous.

"I would like to reassure the local community that we are working to find those responsible and bring them to justice. We have a zero-tolerance approach to any person involved in the use of, possession of, and storage of firearms, and we will relentlessly pursue anyone involved in this type of awful criminality.

"We are committed to taking weapons off our streets and, rest assured, if you tell us about any suspected possession or offences we will take action. We pro-actively investigate serious organised crime in Merseyside, including the use of guns and the supply and distribution of drugs.

"We will always take immediate action to incidents involving guns and we are actively working to make Merseyside a safer place to live and work. Information from the public is vital if we are to breakdown the organised crime groups who bring misery to our streets.

"This incident took place in a residential area so there are likely to be people who may have CCTV or smart doorbell footage that could have captured something to help our investigation. I urge those who live in the area to check your CCTV or dashcam for footage taken from this night to help us find those responsible.

"If you have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage or information about this incident, please DM our social media desk on Twitter @MerseyPolice or Facebook ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ quoting incident reference 23000337602. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers UK anonymously on 0800 555 111."
