Birmingham is back and ready to celebrate business excellence again as we announce the shortlist for our annual awards.
Employers and individuals from a broad and diverse range of sectors will gather at the ICC next month to recognise the achievements of so many at the Birmingham BusinessLive Awards in association with the Birmingham Post.
They come after what has been a tumultuous two years for the business world.
With spring most definitely in the air, the event will also be a chance for the city to let its hair down, enjoy a three-course dinner and then party the night away with our live band The Tzars.
Our 2022 shortlist once again features employers from the private, charity and third sectors and this year's event has a brand new category to celebrate the work done by employers to promote diversity and inclusion (scroll down for the full shortlist).
And of course, our overall Company of the Year for 2022 will be chosen from the different category winners on the night.
The awards ceremony will take place on Friday March 18 Buy your tickets here and please email paige.jackson@reachplc.com for more information and to learn about sponsorship opportunities The ceremony will be hosted at the International Convention Centre in Broad Street, Birmingham, with a drinks reception from 6pm Follow the hashtag #BBLA for updates on social media |
After being forced to hold a virtual ceremony last year because of the pandemic restrictions, we are delighted to be able to host our first in-person business awards for two and half years.
And in a break with tradition, the 2022 ceremony will not be the usual black tie affair as we invite guests to don their sharpest suits and fanciest party dresses for an evening of fun and celebration.
Our 2022 judging panel was chaired by BusinessLive editor Alistair Houghton who was joined by:
- Alex Bishop, partner and co-head of law firm Shoosmiths' Birmingham office
- Henrietta Brealey, chief executive of Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce
- Ian Cornock, head of regeneration growth at JLL
- Pam Sheemar, talent pilot lead at NatWest
Mr Houghton said: "Our judging day reaffirmed what we already knew - that Birmingham and the West Midlands are battling back from the devastating effects of the pandemic and all our finalists could have been named worthy winners.
"And we were so impressed by the entries to the Young Business Person of the Year category that we shortlisted five candidates.
"It is great news that we are able to bring people together once again at the ICC for the first time since 2019 to celebrate the city region's business community in what I am sure will be a stellar evening of networking and partying.
"I commend all the finalists and winners and wish them the best of luck, both at the awards and in their future endeavours."
