Shortlist is announced for North East Charity Awards 2023

Charities, voluntary groups and their supporters from around the region have made the shortlist for the 2023 North East Charity Awards.

The awards, which are now in their ninth year, will take place on July 19 at the Fed in Gateshead to highlight the region’s top charities, as well as fundraisers and leaders in the voluntary sector. Last year Citizens Advice Gateshead was named North East Charity of the Year, while other winners included Karbon Homes, Beamish and the Shared Interest Society.

This year Daisy Chain, The Halo Project, Hospitality and Hope and Recovery Connections are in the running for the top prize while individuals and organisations from around the North East are competing for other awards.

Journal editor Graeme Whitfield said: “We all know the great work that charities and their supporters do in the North East and it’s important that that work does not go unrewarded. Having been involved in the Charity Awards for its entire history, I know what a great night it is. I’m really looking forward to the night and meeting some of the nominees to hear about their work.”

The awards are in partnership with RBC Brewin Dolphin, with associate partners County Durham Community Foundation and Hospital of God. Category sponsors are VONNE, Sir James Knott Trust, Millfield House Foundation, Muckle LLP and Newcastle Hospitals Charities.
