Shoppers snapping up half-price Wilko air fryer that's cheaper than sold-out Aldi version

Wilko shoppers have scouted out an ‘impressive’ budget air fryer that’s perfect for small families, and is even cheaper than similar models from Aldi. The 4L air fryer was originally £70, but now 50 per cent off, it’s £5 cheaper than the Aldi alternative.

Now only £35, the kitchen gadget has a four litre capacity, which is only half a litre less than the more expensive Aldi version that’s currently sold out.

Meanwhile, Aldi’s smaller 3.5L model costs £34.99, a penny less, meaning you’re getting an extra 0.5L for 1p with the Wilko model.

The discounted air fryer was highlighted by an eagle eye shopper on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group after purchasing one for her nan.

The online community dedicated to deals and saving cash racked up hundreds of comments on the post, with many having tried it themselves. One said: “I got one too, works fine and is a great alternative to the super expensive types.”

Another mum commented: “I have this one. Although it’s small it does the job for me and my two boys. I normally do the chips first, then put them to one side and do the nuggets or whatever, then re-ding the chips for two mins to heat them. Still quicker than the oven and doesn’t use half as much cost wise too.”

Air fryers have proven popular in the last 12 months during the cost of living crisis for their energy efficiency, cooking food faster using less electricity. This £35 model is said to ‘make cooking a breeze’ with high-speed air circulation that cooks food evenly.

The air fryer has dual-capacity with a non-stick four litre pot, and a removable three litre basket, offering ‘endless’ cooking options from frying, baking and roasting, with the ability to cook anything from casseroles and curries to brownies and small cakes.

The Wilko 4L air fryer (Wilko)

This particular model - said to be ideal for a family of four - has earned over 400 five star reviews on the Wilko website.

One shopper said: “Bought this as the price was reasonable for what I wanted to pay. I was very impressed with how quickly it cooked my frozen fish and oven chips in just 25 minutes compared to about 40 minutes in a conventional electric oven .

“The fish cooked perfectly crispy on outside and just right in middle, the chips cooked first class I only had to turn the fish over and give the chips a little shuffle half way through to have a perfectly cooked meal at 25 minutes. No fuss or bother, also so quick and easy to clean after use.”

Another added: “This is just as good as the much more expensive ones - it's quite roomy and so easy to clean! There’s a basket too and a wire rack to hold food off the bottom or you can put stews etc straight in the main pan.It even encouraged my sons to cook!”

The main downside that a number of customers have commented on is that the numbers on the timer sometimes rub off when cleaning, but many of them still left five star comments about the device itself. One even marked the numbers on hers with a permanent marker pen.

The air fryer has an adjustable 30-minute timer and will automatically turn itself off when the timer ends. The non-stick pot also means no more spending hours cleaning and scraping the bottom of fryers when you're finished.

By comparison the Ambiano Air Fryer 3L has a 60 minute timer, but only 130 five star reviews, while the 4.5L model has a 30 minute timer and 97 five star reviews.

You can shop the Wilko air fryer for £35 here - but it’s not known how long it’ll be on sale for, so if you’re desperate to get your hands on it, it’s worth noting it could sell out or return to full price.
