Shoppers share support for new Beeston shop coming soon

Shoppers in Beeston have spoken about "having something new" in the area. The Plane Tree, a new not-for-profit business is a community based retail outlet selling arts and crafts, will open on 76 High Road in Beeston.

Shoppers said they are ready to support the shop, supports young people into employment. and is currently still in the process of being set up.

Haider Ali Rehman, who works at the Phone Garage on the Beeston High Road, said it’s exciting to have something new for the town.

Haider, who has just finished his masters degree in international business said: “I don’t know much about it, but having something new for Beeston is exciting. I know that over here I’ve seen a few different branches in Beeston move. Bringing this to Beeston really makes it more charming.

Haider, who is originally from Pakistan, added: “More people from other nationalities, like me, when we see things like this it’s culturally charming, we’d never see things like this in our country. For me personally, it helps me learn and I would never see this in my country.”

Shopper Glenda Douglas, who has been a Beeston resident since 1980, says that it could give young people an opportunity to go there. The 64-year-old said: “It’s a good idea, anything to get them from wandering on the streets. I’m all for supporting them - it’s a good idea.”

Another shopper, Linda Anderson, 57, told Nottinghamshire Live that it’s positive to have a new venture coming to Beeston. “They definitely have my support. I think a new business that is different is really good. I’m excited to see what they do with it.”
