Shoppers praise PrettyLittleThing for using models with stomas and prosthetics for ‘amazing’ swimwear collection

Shoppers have praised major fashion brand PrettyLittleThing for their ‘game changing’ collaboration, which sees the new range modelled by women who have stoma bags and mastectomies.

It’s the brand’s second collection with the cancer charity, GIRLvsCANCER , and their first ever post-surgery friendly swimwear line that’s both ‘comfortable and empowering’.

The range, made in collaboration with the cancer collective, launched online yesterday (June 13), and customers say it’s ‘amazing’.

PrettyLittleThing shared a snap from the campaign with their 18.4 million Instagram followers, which quickly attracted attention from the community and beyond. Women who had, or previously had stoma bags commented: “Amazing as a fellow ostomate,” and “This is fantastic!!! Thank you so much for sharing. I have had a permanent stoma for 4 years, it saved my life!”

Another wrote: “As a former ostomate, this is amazing!! Well done @prettylittlething for making accessible clothing that still fits with today’s style to make people look and feel amazing regardless of what they’ve gone through!”

While a fourth said: “Everything about this is stunning! I have a stoma bag and I’m so happy to see @big_c_stomaandme & @noovariesandastoma representing us!”

“This is amazing! Best advert I’ve seen from plt,” said another shopper.

Available in a range of sizes from XS-XXL, the GIRLvsCANVER x PLT collection starts at £10, and features styles specifically created to provide more coverage to disguise scar tissue, shapes that stylishly conceal stoma and ileostomy bags and security for breast inserts and prostheses.

Straps have been made thicker and necklines, armholes, and waistbands higher, while all pieces have also been created in super soft fabrics that are easy and comfortable to wear, without compromising on style.

GIRLvsCANCER was founded by Lauren Mahon, after her own run in with breast cancer back in 2016.

Speaking of the partnership, GIRLvsCANCER founder Lauren Mahon said: “I’m so excited to be launching the second GIRLvsCANCER x PrettyLittleThing collection. We received such epic feedback from the lingerie edit with the cancer community sharing that seeing the breast cancer patients represented by a global brand such as PLT made them feel empowered. The pieces also made them feel confident and sexy, something that has been previously lacking in breast cancer underwear offerings. I'm so proud!

“The new swimwear edit has been created with breast cancer as well as those living with a stoma or ileostomy bag in mind. Working with PLT on such game-changing ranges is huge and this is just the beginning. I’m so excited to see what the cancer crew thinks and share this stunning swimwear range with the world!”

PLT have said they will be donating 100 per cent of proceeds from this collection to GirlVsCancer, which will allow them to hire a ‘dream team’.

The fashion brand added: “Combining comfort and style, this inspiring new collection is here to make you feel the best version of yourself this summer and every summer. Featuring a range of flattering bikini sets in a variety of different feminine styles, cut out swimsuits with ruched detailing with wrap waist features, paired with our dreamy overalls.

“Together with online cancer collective GIRLvsCANCER, we’ve created a post-surgery friendly swimwear collection that is both comfortable and empowering while still making you look and feel sizzling this summer season. This inclusive collection is designed to inspire confidence when it comes to swimwear season, whether you’ve been affected by cancer, or not.

“Here’s to giving cancer the middle finger in swimwear that will have you strutting around the poolside, feeling your most confident self.”
