Shoppers looking to save money on soaring energy bills have heaped praise on a £35 Aldi Specialbuy that keeps them warm - thanks to advice given by consumer expert Martin Lewis. Last week the finance expert advised people on how they can stay warm without turning the heating on.
Martin suggested buying items like heated USB gloves and electric blankets, allowing people to heat themselves instead of their homes. He also pointed out in a recent Money Saving Expert guide that it costs only £14 to buy a cheap electric blanket which in turn, costs 3p an hour to run, even amid rising costs.
Now Aldi shoppers have discovered a £35 Specialbuy that is helping them use his advice, the MEN reports. Posting on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains Facebook group, Barbara Mann shared a picture of a £35 heated throw with sleeves available at Aldi.
She wrote: "After Martin Lewis recommendations for keeping warm and using electric blankets if you only need to be warm in one room...bingo. £35 Aldi." And post clearly struck a chord with shoppers, attracting more than 5,000 comments.
Emma Sherman said: "I have this and absolutely love it! Its amazing also for when I have a fibro flare up!" Lisa Harrop said: "I bought this for my hubby in February I have used it a couple of times at night or when ill and it's really warn without been plugged in."
Lorna Quinn wrote: "They are great. And I use it as an electric blanket on the very cold nights. So comfortable." Joanne Guy commented: "I've got one of these and it's lush, so comfy and warm even without turning it on!" Amanda Payne-MacArthur said: "I use mine every day."
Unfortunately the blankets are currently out of stock on the Aldi website, but you may be able to find one in the middle aisles of your local store if you're lucky. Aldi has been contacted about the possibility of restocking the blankets online.
