Shoppers impressed by £28 Dunelm heater that costs pennies to run

Many Brits will be facing the internal battle that is whether or not to pop the heating on as December creeps closer, with the cost of living crisis making it a difficult decision for many. Shoppers have been turning to energy-saving gadgets to replace their household appliances over the last few months, swapping ovens for air fryers and tumble dryers for heated airers.

When it comes to keeping warm, Martin Lewis gave the advice to ‘heat the human, not the home’ - which has seen shoppers go on to snap up products like USB heated gloves, Oodies and hooded blankets, as well as heated throws and gilets. The idea is that instead of popping the heating on and warming the whole house, you take steps to keep yourself warm, so there’s no need to touch the thermostat.

Shoppers have been heaping praise on a portable heater from Dunelm , which costs pennies to run, with many saying they’ve not had to put the heating on since.

The 650W 5 Fin Oil Filled Radiator comes in at £28 , with Dunelm saying an oil-filled Radiator is usually seen as the ‘most reliable’ type of portable heating source. The compact heater is ideal for warming up smaller rooms, or for placing next to your desk to keep you toasty.

Featuring thermostatic control, this Oil Filled Radiator is ideal for easily transporting around the home with its portable, compact build and comes fitted with 5 fins, costing approximately 22p an hour to run - which is far cheaper than the central heating.

Shoppers have left more than 130 five star reviews on the appliance, with Angela writing: “Ideal for working for home days to keep the home office warm rather than put the heating on. Cheap to run.”

S tomlinson added: “Lovely little radiator. Makes any room nice and cosy. Will help so much with the rise in energy prices.”

“Small heater, but impressive heat output,” said Anita. “I was so pleased with the first one I bought a second one. We are watching our heating costs and don't mind it a bit cooler so this seems ideal and really good value.”

GJ Thorpe says the heater is just as good a big boiler: “This heater is small and compact but don’t tell this heater that coz he thinks he’s a big boiler and throws heat out accordingly.”
