Shoppers 'forced to buy' fake Chanel and Hugo Boss perfume filled with urine

Three teenagers were arrested after being found with fake perfume filled with urine at a train station.

Merseyside Police made the arrests following complaints of men using "aggressive sales tactics" to peddle cheap perfume in Southport town centre. Police said reports involved the men trying to force shoppers on Chapel Street to take cash out to buy perfume that they were selling for cheap prices.

On July 20, officers stopped two men on Scarisbrick Street but they had no perfume with them. A short time later, five bottles of perfume were found inside a carrier bag dumped over a wall nearby.

A photo shared by Sefton Police on Facebook showed the haul of perfume, which included fake bottles of Chanel No 5, Boss by Hugo Boss and Daisy by Marc Jacobs.

A police spokesperson said: "On the 27th July, Police Officers arrested three teenagers at Southport Railway Station, aged 14, 15 and 17 from Queensferry, on suspicion of fraud and fare evasion on the railway, having been found in possession of counterfeit perfumes.

"When tested, the perfumes were confirmed to be fake. Among the agents contained in the mixture, urine had been used as a stabilising agent. The three teenagers were released under investigation.

"If something seems too good to be true, it probably is."
