Shoppers flock to buy this Amazon Logitech wireless mouse but I found one major drawback

I’ve used many mice in my time from gaming mice with all the bells and whistles as well simple mice that are purely used for productivity whether that be in an office or working from home.

The Logitech M185 is one of Amazon's best selling mice that's aimed at the latter and it's obvious due to its price and its features. Many people reading this are probably thinking: “Well it’s a computer mouse. How much can it get wrong?”

Not much when it comes to the M185 but for me specifically – there is one major flaw which means I can’t use this as a day-to-day mouse.

I’ve used Logitech mice for gaming as well as productivity and the company create stellar mice for a variety of scenarios. I extensively use the Logitech G Pro X Superlight for gaming and productivity, so I know just how well renowned it is for creating a solid mouse.

The M185 comes in with very reasonable features at its price point including a wireless 2.4Ghz receiver that comes inside the mouse which eliminates the need for pesky wires. It’s a simple plug-in-and-go mouse without the need to install any sort of software – perfect for those who are not tech savvy.

Thanks to advances in wireless technology, wireless mice offer no lag or delay so you don't need to worry about any sort of delay while using the M185.

It also claims to be able to work for 12 months without the need to swap batteries. Something I thought would be very annoying if I needed to swap batteries every other week. Some mice tend to have built-in batteries meaning you can charge them over time.

The good news is that even though the M185 does require you to have an AA battery installed, Logitech states that you shouldn’t need to replace it for 12 months thanks to the on/off switch button and auto-sleep power-saving mode.

M185 is compatible with Windows, macOS, Chrome OS and Linus and works up to a staggering 10 metres long which is perfect for people who might find their laptop or PC is hooked up far away from their screen.

I tested this by walking to the other side of my house while I was still upstairs and was quite surprised that it still worked and seemed just as fast as if I was sitting right next to my laptop. Impressive.

One major plus for the mouse is that it felt study and smooth when I used it for work. Some cheap mice and feel flimsy with mouse buttons wiggling and feeling like I have to drag the mouse across my mousepad or desk.

The M185 has none of those problems. Despite its £15.99 price, the mouse feels like I could have paid much more for just how durable and how much of a pleasure it was to slide across my desk.

During my 8-hour of use while at work, the M185 worked perfectly just as I expected from a Logitech mouse. Smooth in the hand and a pleasure to use with clicks feeling responsive and satisfying with good feedback. and no lag whatsoever.

But one major problem that I had was its size. The M185 dimensions come in at a height of 99 mm, a width of 60 mm and a depth of 39 mm.

At the end of the eight hours, my hand uncomfortable and stiff and it had confirmed my worries when I saw the mouse: that my hand was just far too big for the M185.

Compared to my Superlight G Pro X and other mice I have use, the M185 is VERY small and I noticed my pinky finger would regularly drag on the side of my mousepad.

I have a claw-like grip which makes it less of a problem but for those who hold their mice differently, this could be a real issue causing pain or discomfort after a while.

The good news is that Logitech does have a fix for this and it's Logitech's M190 mouse It comes in at the same price as the M185 but its bigger and far more comfortable for people with bigger hands.

Don't get me wrong the M185 is useable for short periods of time. If you need a wireless mouse while commuting or away from the office, you can definitely get away with the M185 even if you have large hands.

But for longer periods where you're sitting at a desk, you could find the M185 extremely uncomfortable and it could cause issues if you don't get the right size mouse.

The M185 is perfect for peripatetic working. It's great if your space is limited or the space that you have when packing is limited.

It fits everywhere and anywhere making it amazing if you're working from one spot to another but if you have bigger hands and are planning to buy and use the M185 for extended periods of time, I would avoid it.

You can get the M185 from Amazon for £11.99 thanks to a special deal. However if you feel you might be better with a larger mouse, you can get the M190 here.
