Those who have been working remotely in recent months have likely seen a spike in their gas and electricity usage as a result of the current energy crisis, but a new scheme from coffee shop Pret-a-Manger could be the perfect solution to saving money this January.
The cafe chain - which has seven branches across Manchester city centre - has a little-known subscription that could save shoppers a fortune.
The Pret Coffee Subscription usually costs £25 per month, but there’s currently a deal where customers can get their first month for £12.50.

For the monthly cost, subscribers are entitled to five Barista-made drinks per day, including tea, coffee, hot chocolates and even iced beverages. The drinks can be any size, with an extra syrup or shot, as well as milk alternatives totally free.
At Manchester’s Piccadilly station branch, coffee comes in just one size, costing £3.25 for an ‘organic’ cappuccino. At the special first-month price, the subscription would pay for itself in just four drinks - or one day. Even at full price, it’s worth eight coffees, meaning if you get one coffee just twice a week, it could be saving you money.
When you subscribe to the club via the Pret app, customers are given access to a QR code which allows them to redeem one eligible drink every 30 minutes, up to a maximum of five per day. So while it’s not totally ‘unlimited’, it gets shoppers up to 155 coffees per month, based on a 31-day month - which is pretty good going.
As well as getting the free coffee, customers can enjoy the free WiFi, heating or air con, and electricity, which could mean that it’s even cheaper than working from home for many.
Pret customers can get their first month for £12.50, paying £25 thereafter, but you can cancel anytime, so if it’s not for you, you can opt out of the club before your next payment. You can sign up to the club via the Pret app.
