Shoppers are losing their minds over new £1.79 Aldi snack

Shoppers are going crazy about a budget version of the popular Pop-Tarts. At close to £3 a box, fans of the frosted pastry snacks say it can be a struggle to afford the Kellogg's version.

So the fact that Aldi has launched its own Top Twists for £1.79 a box is the cause of huge excitement. Shopper Lucy Wilkinson shared a photo of the product in a bargains Facebook group where it's attracted more than 2.5k comments.

Her photo shows the two flavours they come in - strawberry and chocolate.

"What!!!!! Omg!!! I NEED these," said one follower, while another added: "My kids love Pop Tarts but they are a luxury. I couldn't afford them at the rate they eat them. These Aldi ones are a god send. I'll be in my local tomorrow to pick some up. Thank you for sharing."

You get eight in each box - four packs of two - the same as Pop Tarts and while the Aldi ones are a bit smaller, they still work out cheaper.

Of course, it's taste that matters most, but Lucy says her kids, 10-year-old Freddie and six-year-old Jessica, have given them the thumbs up.

The mum, who hails from Lancaster but now lives in Suffolk, told the Manchester Evening News: "They are nice. The kids approved. There's not as much filling but they're good."

The product is from Aldi's Harvest Morn range and can be found near the cereals. The instructions say they can either be warmed in the microwave or toaster for five seconds.

It's not the first Aldi swap that has been in the headlines. We've previously shared a full list of Aldi and Lidl products that shoppers are swapping to from the big brands.
