Shoppers ‘absolutely gutted’ as two huge beauty brands sold at Boots being pulled from UK

Two major luxury beauty brands have announced they’ll no longer be sold in the UK later this year. Fans of Smashbox and Glamglow are ‘absolutely gutted’ they won’t be able to get their hands on the products after September.

Both brands - owned by The Estée Lauder Companies - announced their exit from the UK and Ireland on social media yesterday.

They say the decision has been made following an ‘accumulation of challenges’, and thanked beauty lovers for their support over the years.

Smashbox wrote: “To our Smashbox fam: An accumulation of challenges has sadly been more than our business can withstand and we’ve had to make the heart-breaking decision to no longer accept orders in the UK and Ireland beginning September 29, 2022.

“We’ve loved being a part of your creativity and expression and we’re forever grateful. Thank you for your support and kindness.”

Makeup lovers took to Twitter to share their devastation at the decision, with @kavitaa_x writing: “Absolutely gutted smashbox is closing in the UK.”

Bethany Daniell added: “Just had an email saying smashbox are stopping selling make-up in England from September and I’m going to have to change so many of my products.”

Glamglow made their announcement on the same day, commenting: ”An important message to our GLAMFAM: Sadly our brand is no longer accepting new orders in UK and Ireland from 29th September 2022. An accumulation of challenges had led to the incredibly difficult decision to cease trading GLAMGLOW in the UK and Ireland.

“Thank you for your support and kindness and know that we will continue to trade in other select markets globally.”

As a result of their departure, Boots have slashed all of their products to half price on the website, so those who swear by them will need to stock up before they’re no longer able to get their hands on them.

Much of the Smashbox range is already out of stock, but there are some great savings to be had. Most shades of the Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage 24 Hour Foundation are still in stock, having been reduced to £15.50 from £31.

Meanwhile, the cult-following Photo Finish Primer is sold out, but you can still get it as part of the Prep and Set duo for £11, down from £22 , but you may want to check out Aldi's Lacura dupe, which is £5.99. And for those looking for summer vibes, the Smashbox Cali Contour Palette Medium Dark is now only £18, down from £36.

Glamglow products have also been reduced, including the Glamglow Instant Hits Muds Skincare Gift Set , which is now £11, and the popular Glamglow BERRYGLOW Probiotic Recovery Face Mask , now £18. One of the biggest savings comes from the Glamglow YOUTHMUD Glow Stimulating Treatment Face Mask, down from £59 to £29.50. The mask has 367 five star reviews and will be greatly missed by those who love it.

You can shop the remaining Smashbox and Glamglow products at Boots - but when they’re gone, they’re gone.
