Shopper issues plea after spotting worrying scene in Marks and Spencer

A kind-hearted shopper rushed into help after spotting two elderly women falling on the escalators in Marks and Spencer.

The woman had been out shopping in Marks and Spencer in Southport over the weekend she saw two sisters fall on the escalators.

One of the sisters was particularly hurt and couldn't get up, so the shopper stayed and reassured them while waiting for the first aiders to arrive.

The shopper was 'shaken' following the incident and was keen to check on the sisters' welfare after noticing an ambulance arrive at the shop shortly after.

She took to the hyperlocal networking site, nextdoor.co.uk, to ask about them.

She posted: "Accident in M&S yesterday. I saw two older ladies who are sisters have a really bad fall on the escalators in M&S yesterday. One was particularly hurt and couldn’t get up.

"I stayed and talked to them to try and reassure them while we waited for the first aiders and I was hoping to find out how they are if anyone on here knows them. It really shook me up just seeing it so I can’t imagine how they are feeling.

"I saw an ambulance came shortly after so I’m hoping they are both ok and were seen to quickly. If anyone does know them can you please pass on my best wishes? Thanks!"

People were quick to comment on the post. One person wrote: "What a lovely caring person you are. You could telephone M&S Southport for an update?? Or if you can remember the faces of certain staff involved on the day...when you're next in M&S you could look out for them and they may update you."

Another person commented: "How lovely of you. Many thanks too you, and hoping the two ladies are fine."
