Shopee unveils “Shopee International Platform” Joins forces with DITP to help Thai SMEs reach consumers around the region

‘Shopee, the leading e-commerce platform in Southeast Asia and Taiwan, recently took its ‘6.6 Greatest Brand Celebration’ as an opportunity to launch “Shopee International Platform”, or SIP, a special program putting into practice its commitment to help Thai businesses take advantage of the borderless digital economy to develop and grow.

Reaffirming Shopee’s position as the number one e-commerce platform among consumers in Thailand and in partnership with the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Ministry of Commerce, SIP gives Thai small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to showcase their quality products to regional consumers conveniently – without additional fees.

“SMEs are key to the Thai economy,” comments Siwagorn Siriwongpanupong, Director of Business Development, Shopee (Thailand). “As the leading e-commerce platform, Shopee is committed to supporting these sellers and businesses in Thailand. The launch of the ‘Shopee International Platform’ aims to provide local businesses with more opportunities in the fast-changing digital world.”

“We are honoured to be trusted by the Department of International Trade Promotion to work with Thai SMEs through SIP. Rest assured, we will continue to develop our platform to effectively support Thai sellers and thereby stimulate the digital economy in Thailand sustainably.”

SIP essentially helps Thai sellers and SMEs sell their products to consumers in other countries. Good support from Shopee, from help managing stores and setting up shop in other countries, enables them to expand their businesses.

“We will help the SMEs manage products and stock and get them chatting with buyers,” continues Mr. Siwagorn. “Shipping products to other countries will become much easier for them.”

Already Thai sellers can take orders from customers in Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. Better yet, the support is provided free of charge.

“In line with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Jurin Laksanawisit’s policy focusing on working closely with the private sector to drive exports, this partnership is another important step that will drive the country's economy,” reveals Mr. Phusit Ratanakul Sereroengrit, DITP Director General.

“DITP hopes SIP will encourage entrepreneurs to adapt their business to online and provide opportunities for exporters and micro traders to conveniently sell their products to other countries through one of the leading online channels.”

For its part, DITP plans to promote stores to other countries under the SIP program through the TOPTHAI campaign, initially targeting Singapore, Malaysia and Philippines.

Meanwhile, to mark the launch of the “Shopee International Platform”, and in line with the Shopee 6.6 Greatest Brands Celebration, Shopee is offering exceptional deals. They include discount codes up to 1,666 baht and six free shipping codes. Authentic brands on Shopee Mall will offer reduced prices throughout the campaign.

Those who pay with ShopeePay will get special privileges.

Sellers and SMEs interested in joining the “Shopee International Platform” can find out more at Shopee International Platform (SIP).
