Woman, 28, shot dead in garden 'was not intended target'
A woman who died after being shot in Old Swan has been named.
Merseyside police today confirmed that they do not believe Ashley Dale was the intended target of an attack at an address in Old Swan. Emergency services rushed to the back garden of a house on Leinster Road, after reports for concerns of the safety of a woman at around 12.40am on Sunday, August 21.
Detective Chief Superintendent Mark Kameen said: "This clearly was a very shocking incident which has led to the death of a young woman. I understand how frightening incidents like this can seem to ordinary members of the public and in the coming hours and days we will be speaking to people living in the local and wider community to reassure them of the ongoing work we are doing to find the person or people responsible.

"Gun crime has no place on the streets of Merseyside and we will leave no stone unturned to bring those responsible for justice. An investigation is underway and a number of lines of enquiry are currently being investigated."

Man spends £2,500 TUI holiday alone after girlfriend gets deported
A man was forced to spend his £2,500 holiday alone after his girlfriend was deported by airport staff when they landed.
Scott Kinghorn, 32, and partner Thallise Marciano, 29, had flown to Cancun from Glasgow in June. The couple had booked the package holiday two weeks before they set off but their holiday plans were soon left in tatters.
Scott, from Edinburgh, said: "The whole trip was a complete nightmare from start to finish. Tui are responsible as she should never have been able to board that flight with a Brazilian passport and the incorrect documents."

Manhunt for murder suspect as police warn people not to approach him
The suspect of an alleged murder is on the run.
Police are hunting John Bellfield in connection to the death of Thomas Campbell, in Tameside. Detectives have released a photograph of Bellfield, 28, after Mr Campbell, 38, was found dead at a property on Riverside, Mossley, on July 3.
A GMP spokesman said: "John Bellfield (13/04/1994) is wanted on suspicion of the murder of Thomas Campbell (38) in Tameside last month. Do not approach Bellfield and if you see him call 999.
"We are actively seeking his arrest and ask that anyone with information about his whereabouts contacts us immediately. He is from the Openshaw area of the city and is believed to also have links to Lancashire, but could be anywhere in the country. Anyone who knows Bellfield, and may be withholding information, is reminded that assisting a suspect can lead to a prison sentence of up to 10 years."
