Shooting near Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade ends with one dead, over 20 injured

Three people have been detained following an active shooter situation near the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade on Wednesday in which a woman was killed and more than 20 people were injured, police have told multiple sources.

The Kansas City Star reported that Lisa Lopez-Galvan, a Johnson County mother of two, died in the shooting.

The incident happened at Union Station near the end of the parade, which started at 11 a.m.

“I’m angry at what happened today,” Kansas City Police Chief Stacey Graves said. “The people who came to this celebration should expect a safe environment.”
