A recent incident at a rally for former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania has shocked the nation. The footage from the event shows rallygoers attempting to alert police to a shooter on a nearby rooftop before shots were fired on Saturday.
The shooter, identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, was captured on video climbing into position and subsequently firing several shots. Tragically, the former president and three crowd members were struck by the gunfire, resulting in one fatality.
It has been revealed that local law enforcement had jurisdiction over the building where Crooks positioned himself. Sources indicate that the building served as a 'rally point' for a local counter sniper team, as per federal law enforcement officials familiar with the security arrangements.
Reports suggest that a team was present in or near the building during the incident. At the Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, four counter sniper teams were deployed, including two from the Secret Service and two from local law enforcement.
Furthermore, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that an officer had climbed onto the roof, spotted Crooks armed with a rifle, and then retreated. Shortly after, Crooks opened fire. Subsequently, a Secret Service counter sniper engaged and fatally shot Crooks, averting further tragedy.
