Shoe chain which has worked with Rita Ora, Ellie Goulding and Halle Berry opens new UK hub creating 50 jobs

The Deichmann shoe shop chain is creating 50 new jobs after opening a 165,000 sq ft warehouse in central England.

The business, which is reported to be Europe’s biggest shoe seller, has taken a lease on a 163,500 sq ft, purpose-built warehouse, in Northamptonshire.

The new UK distribution facility at the Centrix Business Park, in Corby, is just a few miles from its UK headquarters in Market Harborough.

The retailer said it chose Corby because of its central location for its network of 120 UK stores and the proximity to the HQ, which it is retaining.

The warehouse, built by the site’s owners and developers Clowes Developments, has undergone a £3 million fit-out and will give Deichmann full autonomy to manage its stock and logistics.

The development was led by Winvic Construction and it has enough space to hold more than a million pairs of shoes.

Samuel Deichmann is executive board member at Deichmann SE and chairman of the board of directors at Deichmann-UK Shoes Limited.

He said: “We are thrilled to open our brand new Corby warehouse.

“Deichmann is experiencing strong success both in our online growth and expansion of UK stores, the new warehouse will allow us to enhance our service and ensure we can keep pace with customer demand.”

Deichmann operates in 31 countries and has collaborated with fashion designers and A-List stars including British singers Rita Ora and Ellie Goulding, design duo Nova Chiu and Hollywood celebrity Halle Berry.

A spokesman said: “The brand brings exclusive, stylish collections to its customers at accessible prices.

“Renowned for offering footwear options for the whole family at affordable price points, the collections of women’s, men’s and children’s shoes include brands such as adidas, Fila, Nike and Skechers.

“Deichmann also boasts a branded price promise ensuring that customers are refunded the difference if they find an identical pair of shoes cheaper in any UK high street or online retailer.

“There is also an extensive ‘comfort’ range for those looking to marry style with snugness.

“Deichmann’s own brand shoes start at just £5.99, with real leather products starting at £29.99.”

The 39 acre business park forms part of Corby’s new regeneration framework and offers “built to suit” industrial and warehouse opportunities.

The commercial lease agreement marks significant inward investment for the area.

Property agent Budworth Hardcastle acted for Deichmann.
