VIDEOS have shown a busy street in Glasgow flooded with water this morning due to a burst pipe.
Shortly after 7.25am, a Traffcom update warned drivers that in order to accommodate Scottish Water’s urgent water main repairs Crow Road at Great Western Road has been closed in a southbound direction for approximately 400m.
Now, a reported additional water burst means that Bearsden Road has been reduced to one lane on its approach to Anniesland Cross.
Road users are advised to approach the Anniesland Cross Junction with caution due to the amount of surface water in the area.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: "A burst on a 36-inch trunk water main has occurred in Crow Road, Anniesland, near its junction with Fulton Street and is causing some localised flooding in the area.
"The burst could temporarily cause low water pressure or loss of normal water supply to properties in areas such as the city centre, West End, Partick, Anniesland and Govan."
"Engineers are working to restore any affected supplies by carrying out re-zoning of the local network and to repair the burst as quickly as possible."
Shocking images and videos shared with the Glasgow Times have shown the extent of flooding with a large area completely submerged.
