Shocking scenes as 'dangerous' winds blow trampoline onto car in Leeds

High speed winds have given some areas of Leeds a real battering today.

This morning residents in one area of Leeds were concerned when they saw a trampoline had blown over from a garden in Cemetery Road in Holbeck. It comes after wind gusts were seen at a speed of up to 24 miles per hour.

A photograph shows the large trampoline on top of a parked white Volkswagen Golf. One resident said: "That's so dangerous, I hope no one was hurt."

Hellenka Malin said on social media: "I saw it this morning. Loads of people taking photo of it. I would be very unimpressed."

At around 11am Nicola Pinngton said: "I went past it on the bus, someone must still be in bed!" "OMG I hope no one was hurt," Clare Tate added.

Jaques Ap added: "You certainly wouldn’t get a wheelchair user down the path or a mother and her children.. they would have to walk into the road because the car has been blown by the wind and plonked on over half the path." David Haytack said: "I certainly would not be happy about my trampoline landing there."

The wind is expected to continue throughout the weekend. On Saturday 45mph of winds are expected between 9pm and 10pm.

A yellow weather warning has also been issued for Yorkshire from 9pm on Friday, January 13, to 12pm on Saturday, January 14. On hills, there could be 40 to 50mm of rain. The Met Office warns disruption is likely, including flooding of homes and businesses.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: ""With conditions already very wet this is likely to cause some flooding. The rain will also be accompanied by strong winds, with gusts of 40-50 mph and possibly 60 mph on some exposed coasts in the south. The rain and strong winds will clear eastwards during Saturday daytime."
