Shocking pictures reveal damage after fire in Glasgow

999 crews have raced to the scene of a fire in Glasgow's city centre this afternoon.

Bell Street to Glasgow Cross has been locked down due to a fire within Tontine Lane, High Street.

Now, images depicting taped-off areas, police presence and firefighters leaving a property with hoses have emerged.

A Glasgow Times reporter on the scene said there were around three fire engines and an alley had been destroyed, with multiple scooters and a car caught in the flames.

There seems to be no damage to properties and businesses on the street so far, but both Domino's and Chilli Thrill were evacuated.

A Domino's worker said: "It all happened so fast black smoke started to come in and we all had to get out.

A Chilli Thrill worked added: "I just turned up to start work and saw the damage.

"There's been issues with the alley before. We need to shut down today now. It's terrible."

Scottish Fire and Rescue have been contacted for comment.
