Shocking new footage shows Man Utd & Rangers supporters brawl in Old Trafford stands

Shocking new footage has captured brawls between rival supporters in the match between Manchester United and Rangers.

We reported last night that Rangers fans had invaded the home end at Old Trafford for the Europa League tie with videos showing hundreds of supporters within the United allocation.

Rangers had been backed by 3,700 fans in the away allocation at Old Trafford but it appeared fans of the Ibrox club also managed to secure tickets in the home section for the match.

United and Rangers fans had clashed in Manchester ahead of the match with clips on social media showing fights in the streets.

Now, shocking footage has revealed fights within the stadium and even during the match last night.

Short videos appear to show rival fans clashing within the home end of the stadium both during the 2-1 win for United and at full-time.

It is clear that punches are being thrown in several of the videos shared on social media on Thursday.

Groups of fans can be seen backing apart as a small number of supporters clash in the stands.

Stewards could  be seen trying to calm the situation in a number of incidents throughout the stadium.

Manchester United have vowed to take the "strongest possible sanctions" against any persons identified as an away supporter within the home end at Old Trafford.

A Man Utd spokesperson said: "In anticipation of the risks around tonight’s game, we took the strictest possible measures to prevent sales to away fans in home areas.

"Tickets were only allocated to people who existed on our database prior to the draw taking place in August.

"Hospitality tickets had the same restrictions applied. Tickets forwarded by season ticket-holders and members also had the same restrictions applied (i.e. they could only be forwarded to fans on our database prior to the draw).

"Whilst the unauthorised touting of tickets has become more difficult since our introduction of in-app digital ticketing, it cannot be completely eliminated.

"All examples of away fans in home areas will be investigated over the coming days, with the strongest possible sanctions taken against the registered holders."
