Shocking moment Asda delivery driver held back as he attacked motorbike rider with pole

This is the shocking moment an Asda delivery driver had to be held back as he attacked a motorcycle rider with a pole.

The road rage worker confronted the man following an incident with his scooter, which was knocked on the ground in front of the van on Clapton Common in Hackney, East London, on Monday evening.

Onlookers recorded the driver in a fluorescent yellow vest repeatedly swinging at the other road user and striking him shortly before 9pm.

He hit him at least five times in front of the supermarket entrance.

The motorcycle rider responded with a flurry of punches as a frantic woman yelled "hey, Asda man, stop".

Shocked passers-by broke up the brawl and calmed down the two men before the rider and the Asda worker went their separate ways.

One local who witnessed the fight said: "I expected better behaviour from someone representing a company like Asda.

"Attacking someone with a big weapon like that just isn't on. He could have done some real damage."

Onlooker Rabbi Efrayim Goldstein said he notified local police and the council about the incident but had not heard anything back.

He added: "I don't know what started the fight but it was inappropriate."

An Asda spokesperson said: “We are aware of the incident shown in this footage and we are investigating.

The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment on the incident.
