Shocking video footage has captured the devastating aftermath of a burst water pipe which has created enormous cracks in the ground as if an earthquake has hit Milngavie.
Scottish Water has started excavation of a damaged 36" water main on Auchenhowie Road which affected water supplies for around 250,000 customers in parts of Glasgow on Tuesday, January 24.
Glasgow Road and Auchenhowie Road remain closed, under temporary traffic management while repairs and reinstatement of the road is carried out. Local diversions are in place and road users should follow all signage.

High pressure power cables within the excavation area were identified and, in collaboration with Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN), they are believed to have been isolated yesterday evening - enabling Scottish Water to carry out a safe excavation and repair.
Georgina Reid, Scottish Water Corporate Affairs manager for the west, said: “Our first priority was making the location safe, and restoring water supplies to the 100,000 properties affected across several areas of Glasgow.
“This is a very busy commuter route, and the damage has been substantial.
“Our teams will be working through the night tonight and our priority now is to get the repair completed and the roads reopened as soon as possible.
“Drivers should expect some delays, especially at peak times and follow the diversions in place.
“Some local residents may experience some increased noise this evening and overnight and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disruption this may cause.”
To allow the repair and reinstatement works to be carried out safely and to ensure the safety of staff and members of the public, Glasgow Road and parts of Auchenhowie road are expected to remain closed for around two weeks.
However, as the reinstatement progresses, traffic management may be reduced.
