Shocking Dublin Bus moment sees man and woman throw punches in attempt to assault driver

This is the shocking moment that a man and a woman threw multiple punches at a Dublin Bus driver.

The horrific incident took place on the 27 bus over the weekend, with gardai being called to the scene in the aftermath.

A female can be heard saying "you f**king speccy c**t, YOU STARTED IT, YOU SAID MY BUGGY WASN'T ALLOWED ON THE BUS."

The male also accused the driver of being "a r****d", a "braindead b***ard" in the shocking four-minute clip.

The woman in the video first hits the glass, before she appears to try and leave the bus.

The man then verbally abuses the driver, before throwing multiple punches towards him.

After a short period, the duo then leave the bus.

It is believed the incident stemmed from a conversation between the driver and the duo about a buggy, which can be seen in the video.

A child can be heard crying as the incident unfolded.

A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardai are investigating an incident of assault which occurred on Werburgh Street, Dublin 2 yesterday afternoon, 3rd April 2022. A man aged in his 40s received non-life threatening injuries.

"He was not treated by medical staff at the scene of this incident. No arrests have been made at this time. Investigations are ongoing."

A Dublin Bus spokesperson said: "I can confirm that an incident took place onboard Route 27 yesterday. An Garda Siochana were contacted and attended the scene.

"All Dublin Bus employees are fully trained on the comprehensive procedures for dealing with incidents of antisocial behaviour. Each vehicle is equipped with a radio which allows immediate contact to our Central Control Centre. This means that the driver has immediate contact to a team of Dublin Bus Inspectors should assistance be required in any given situation.

"Dublin Bus operates a fleet of 1,000 buses . While the operation on such a large scale is challenging, the level of anti-social behaviour is relatively low. This is due to a series of initiatives which have taken place; designed to improve safety for both customers and employees.

"We have a strong and close working relationship with An Garda Síochána. The entire Dublin Bus fleet is fully fitted with CCTV cameras with up to 9 internal, 4 external cameras and 2 reversing cameras fitted on the more modern vehicles in the fleet."
