'Shocked' - Manchester United fans react to Brighton team news after Paul Pogba omitted

Manchester United supporters have offered up a mixed reaction after Ralf Rangnick named his starting XI for the Brighton game tonight.

Originally scheduled to take place in December, the Premier League fixture (8.15pm) had to be rearranged when a Covid-19 outbreak forced United to temporarily shut down operations at their Carrington training base, prompting two games to be cancelled.

Brighton will take on United at Old Trafford tonight and kick-off in that one is fast-approaching.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick hinted that he might shuffle the pack against the Seagulls and that statement taken from his pre-match press conference has proved to be a double bluff as the German does make changes - but only two from the start.

Fred and Anthony Elanga are the players to come in, replacing Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford.

Pogba and Rashford are included on the bench alongside Alex Telles and England forward Jesse Lingard.

Rangnick has welcomed Fred straight back into the United team after completing his Covid-19 isolation - while Eric Bailly (ankle), Nemanja Matic (shin) and Edinson Cavani (groin) remain on the treatment table.

Here are a selection of comments from United supporters on social media platform Twitter;

@UtdRaj1X said: "Yeah... that's that why I'm watching PSG and Real Madrid."

@alx_grfe posted: "How can you bench Pogba after his recent performances?"

@Stellify_J added: "So we need more goals, so we bench Pogba for Fred and play with two 6s?"

@ryan_kenealy posted: "I get the rotation and easing Pogba back in, but both [Pogba and Rashford] need to play themselves into form for us to have any chance in the PL or UCL this season."

@Gracemahony5X added: "No big surprises, but I'm shocked that Pogba has been dropped."
