Aidan Keena departed Sligo Rovers for Cheltenham Town today after the League One club paid a reported €110,000 including add-ons for the striker.
The Mullingar native departing the Showgrounds is a major blow for the Bit O'Red as he scored 21 goals during the 2022 campaign.
Sligo boss John Russell will be on the lookout for a replacement before the domestic campaign gets underway on the 17th of February as they aim to finish in the European places.
Multiple clubs were interested in Keena from Ireland and across the UK but Cheltenham won the race for his signature.
Cheltenham Town director of football Micky Moore spoke as the 23-year-old penned a three year contract.
"Aidan was our number one target of the window," said Moore.
"I know the window has been frustrating from the outside, but we've worked really hard to fight off a lot of competition, and I'm really happy we've been able to sign Aidan for Cheltenham."
