A top jeweller is pulling out of Ayr after decades in the town.
Ernest Jones closed its doors on Saturday in a shock blow to Ayr Central.
The specialist diamond and watch jeweller- which moved over from their old premises in the Kyle Centre in 2016 and have been a staple of Ayr Central ever since- is relocating some 30 miles away to Glasgow’s Silverburn Shopping Centre.
A sign on the front of the premises on Sunday said: “We’re moving to a new location.
“This store has now closed.
“In the meantime we’ll continue to help celebrate your story with the pieces that matter to you at your nearest store below: Ernest Jones- Glasgow Silverburn, Unit 3 Silverburn Centre, 763 Barhead Road, Glasgow, G53 6QR.
“We look forward to welcoming you at our new location very soon.”

One loyal customer said they were “saddened” over the relocation and said: “I’ve shopped at the store for years, buying my wife Christmas and birthday presents.
“I like shopping in Ayr for the convenience, I don’t do Glasgow or the big shopping centres.
“I’m really saddened by the move. It leaves another empty unit in Ayr Central too.”
The store sells a wide range of engagement and wedding rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings and a selection of prestigious watch brands including Tissot, Boss and Emporio Armani.
Ernest Jones have been contacted for comment.
