Neighbours have shared their shock after a 'dangerous' cannabis farm was discovered on a 'quiet and friendly' street. Residents contacted police after spotting suspicious activity at a property in Dunsmore Close, Beeston on Monday, April 10.
Two men were then seen leaving the address with black bags believed to be filled with cannabis. Police officers discovered around 100 plants in the kitchen area and the living room, with cannabis cropped ready for sale in the upstairs bedrooms.
Locals were shocked by the discovery and concerned about the dangerous wiring inside the property. Jodie Middleton, 37, who lives on Longlands Road, said: "I am a bit shocked by that. I thought I could smell something when walking through here for the last few months.

"There is never any trouble down here. When I heard the sirens I thought something must be going off, but as there are a lot of old people down here I thought it might be ambulances."
Des Cook, 81, who was walking past the close, questioned the location of the farm. "It is very quiet around here - maybe that is why they did it in this area."
The plants were removed from the property and destroyed. People neighbouring the property were reluctant to speak out publicly, fearing reprisals from the criminals who had run the cannabis farm.
"It is just unbelievable, I have lived here for 50 years and there has never been anything like this. It has always been a quiet little place - I think that is why they chose to do it here," one neighbour, who did not want to be named, said.
She added: "It is very unusual - it looked dangerous inside with all the wiring [to bypass the electrics] and we had been having power cuts so maybe that was a part of it. We only found out what it was the other day, my son-in-law had just spotted a police car so we didn't know much about it."
Another neighbour, who also did not want to be named, added: "It is really just a big shock for everyone. It is really quiet and friendly around here most of the time."
No arrests have been made, but police are currently investigating the incident. Neighbourhood Inspector Mike Ebbins, who covers the Beeston area, said: “This is an excellent example of the community providing us with intelligence and us acting upon it.
“Cannabis grows are a blight on communities and are a fire hazard to neighbouring properties. Criminals who attempt to make money from cultivating or selling cannabis can expect a visit from us, like we did on Monday.
"Drug dealing is a local crime priority in Broxtowe and we rely on the information provided by the public to take action. I would encourage anyone with information about cannabis grows happening in your local community please feel free to call us on 101.”
