After leaving the audience wanting for more with her character and performance in ‘Khuda Haafiz’, Shivaleeka Oberoi is all set to enthrall her fans in the much-awaited second chapter of the action series. ETimes got in touch with the gorgeous actress for an exclusive conversation where she spilled the beans on the reactions she has been getting for the trailer of the film, the challenges of playing Nargis Choudhary, her bond with co-star Vidyut Jammwal and more. Excerpts…
What kind of reactions have you been getting for the trailer of ‘Khuda Haafiz 2’?
The reaction has been great. I feel very overwhelmed because we have put our heart and soul into making the second part. People have been waiting for the second part for a while now. It was a challenge for us to do better than the first part.
If the trailer is anything to go by, the second part has double the action and thrill this time. How was your experience shooting for it?
The second part has double action and double intensity. The second part has more of Nargis as well. A lot of people told me they got to see very less of Nargis in the first part when it was released. They also felt that the action was less. However, we had clarified that Vidyut and my characters were normal people and normal people don’t fight like action stars.
Now, in the second part, Nargis has been through a lot. Sameer and Nargis both are changed people now. People will be able to see more than a girl next door in Nargis. She shows the strength of a real woman.
How is it on the sets with a co-star like Vidyut Jammwal?
Vidyut Jammwal is the most amazing action star we have in Bollywood. He is an amazing human being. We have bonded over multiple things like food, random conversations, music and so much more. We have become friends over time. I believe you eventually find your kind of people in the industry and Vidyut is one of them.
Apart from this, I believe we have a certain level of comfort now. Our characters were actually very challenging to play but since we had that comfort level with each other, we could pull it off.
What was the most challenging part about playing Nargis Rajput Choudhary in chapter 2?
The most challenging part about playing Nargis in ‘Khuda Haafiz 2’ is the whole process of getting into the skin of the character. What Nargis has gone through, I wish nobody else has to go through that in real life. I had to do a lot of research. I had to cut off for a while and prepare for a lot of intense and emotional scenes. By the end of it, I was able to cry at any given point. It was emotionally very exhausting.
However, I truly enjoyed playing the role of Nargis. Playing this character has made me a better actor. I am very happy that I was able to pull off a character like this. Also, I feel that filmmakers do not make films like this for heroines anymore. It is a treat for an actor to play a character like this which has so many layers of emotions.
