The stories, memories and outpouring of saddness over the passing of Paul O'Grady this week have made fans and friends of the presenter and entertainer laugh as much as cry and during the latest episode of Lorraine close friend and Carol Vorderman shared a brilliant memory of the man behind Lily Savage involving an equally beloved diva - Dame Shirley Bassey.
Carol, who appeared on the show to talk about her new podcast Perfect 10, said that the dog-loving, honest and funny had a connection with people due to his raw honest, told of a time she was partying with Paul and you 'never knew what was going to happen.'
Going on to talk about an after party after a Pride of Britain Awards, which Paul regularly attended, she revealed the Cardiff-born singer and the Scouse comic hit it off and a small group of people were treated to a rare singsong.

Carol said: "Paul goes past arm-in-arm with Shirley Bassey, they'd just met, and he goes 'Oh! Vorders Oh!'
"Well, that was about 10 O'clock and night and we were still there at 4 O'Clock and Shirley who never sings in private, gave us a whole Shirley Bassey concert, there were only about six of us. [We had a] Whole Shirley concert, stand-up from O'Grady, they were dancing , I was laughing...
"That was typical [of Paul] you'd be in the moment."
The 67-year-old comedian and presented died suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 28. Paul's husband, Mr Portasio, confirmed his passing, saying that Paul died "unexpectedly but peacefully" on the evening of March 28. In his statement, he said, "He will be greatly missed by his loved ones, friends, family, animals and all those who enjoyed his humour, wit and compassion. I know that he would want me to thank you for all the love you have shown him over the years."
