Shirley Ballas hopes to rival 50 Shades of Grey with 'sex, intrigue and lies' novels

Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has revealed she is to release a series of X-rated novels that she hopes could even outshine the infamous 50 Shades of Grey saga.

The 61-year old TV judge has signed a big-money book deal with publisher HQ and claims to have used her 'very vivid imagination' to pen the stories that revolve around 'sex, intrigue and lies'.

'Queen of Latin' Shirley's target audience is a slightly older generation than that of E. L. James' hit series, however.

"I've always enjoyed a bit of Mills and Boon. And I enjoy writing. I have a very vivid imagination," she explained to the Daily Star.

"They might be a bit Fifty Shades Of Grey. In fact, they might be Sixty Shades Of Grey by the time I've finished. I think mums will love them."

She continued: "When you're reading them, you can go back to being your younger self and enjoy it."

Shirley went on to reveal that some of her tales will be based on celebrity gossip that she 'couldn't include' in her autobiography.

She said she will use fictitious names, however, to avoid embarrassment.

Her first book is the aptly titled 'Murder On The Dancefloor' and is set to be released next year.

Head judge Shirley, meanwhile, has said the Duchess of Cornwall has 'twinkle toes' as she addressed rumours a live show could take place at Buckingham Palace when it returns later this year.

She said Strictly is something the Royal Family "all love to watch", including the Queen and would relish the prospect of a potential special at the London royal residence.

There have been lingering reports a live show will take place at the Buckingham Palace ballroom during either the semi or quarter-finals later this year.

And the former professional dancer teased Camilla, 74, and 57-year-old Sophie, Countess of Wessex, could make a surprise appearance on the long-running BBC show.

Speaking to PA news agency, she said: "I think actually in the royal family there’s quite a few of them with twinkle toes.

"I would like to probably think that Camilla has got some good moves, and Sophie for sure. She loves it. She actually came to one of the shows with her girls.

"So I think that deep down inside, she probably wants to have a little cha-cha-cha."
