Shipping container blaze sends smoke billowing over Nottinghamshire

The fire service were called to an alight container in Nottinghamshire. Crews were called to a shipping container fire near to where Nottingham Road crosses the River Trent near Attenborough at 8.40pm.

The shipping container's contents were on fire. No people were involved in the incident.

Two fire engines were called to the fire. One was deployed from Nottinghamshire's Stockhill station, and one from Derbyshire's Long Eaton station.

A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "It's off Nottingham Road. It's a shipping container with the contents on fire.

"It's near to where Nottingham Road bridge goes over the river. We first mobilised to this at 8.40pm and there are two engines at the site.

"We have one from Nottinghamshire, which is Stockhill, and one from Derbyshire, which is Long Eaton. There are no persons involved."
