Shilo Sanders Announces Transfer from Jackson State to Colorado

Shilo Sanders, the middle son of Colorado head coach Deion Sanders, is following his dad to Boulder. Sanders announced Saturday night that he is transferring from Jackson State to Colorado for the 2023 college football season.

The 23-year-old safety began his career at South Carolina in 2019 and ’20, before spending the past two seasons with his father at Jackson State. While with the Tigers, Sanders played in 20 games, totaling 59 tackles with five interceptions and two forced fumbles, earning a second-team All-SWAC selection in 2021.

Sanders follows his younger brother, Shedeur Sanders, to play for his father in his first year at Colorado. Shilo is the eighth player to transfer from Jackson State to Colorado since Deion accepted the job in December.

In his first spring as Colorado’s head coach, Deion Sanders has added and subtracted myriad players via the transfer portal, a strategy which has drawn the ire of opposing coaches. After overwhelming roster changes, Colorado enters the upcoming season as one of the most interesting teams in the country.
